Based out of the French territory of New Caledonia, the band Redsphere has been an active unit in their local music scene since 2015 or thereabouts. They released their initial EP "Facts" back in 2017, and following this they were ready with their full length debut album "Immortal Voids" in 2019. The EP "Regnvm Lvpvs" is their most recent studio production, and was released by French label M&O Music in January 2023.

Extreme metal is the style explored by the band, and they go about the task inside of a well produced and contemporary sounding framework. The excellent mix and production really emphasized the full sound of the band, with the riffs and the rhythms as well as the vocals coming across as dark in tone and rich in texture, while also maintaining a hard and heavy overall sound.

The short and concise compositions alternates between hammering riff and rhythm patterns in intense and high paced fluctuating patterns and slower paced more chugging riff and rhythm cascades. The former with a clear extreme metal orientation, the latter with a style that falls inside of the more aggressive parts of the thrash metal universe.  The vocals emphasize the extreme metal characteristics of the band with a rich, raspy and aggressive distorted growl style of vocals, a rough presence contrasting the polished and hard textures the guitars and the rhythms provides.

Clocking in at just shy of 15 minutes, the four cuts here showcase a vibrant and energetic band delivering a smooth and contemporary variety of extreme metal. I suspect that those who tend to enjoy a well produced variety of extreme metal with a distinct thrash metal undercurrent should find plenty to enjoy on this production.
